Refugee Camp Cleared from Centre of Paris. Police Criticised for Heavy Handed Approach

French Police have been criticised for their heavy handed approach when removing refugees from the Place de la Republique, in the centre of Paris last Tuesday, 17th November.

The refugees, reported to be from Somalia, Afghanistan and Eritrea, had established a tented camp in the famous Parisian square with the assistance of refugee charities.

Since the removal of other camps on the north French coast in the area of Calais in 2016, refugees have increasingly been moving into the capital.
