RAF Intercepts Russian Bombers

Two RAF fighters intercepted Russian military aircraft over the North Sea, close to UK airspace, on 17 September.

The two RAF Typhoon fighters were scrambled from RAF Leuchars, in Fife and were supported by an E3A 'Sentry' Airborne Early Warning aircraft and and RAF 'Voyager' air to air refuelling aircraft from RAF Brize Norton.

This was the third such interception of Russian military aircraft approaching UK air space to take place over the last six days.
