Pub Curfew Sparks Job Losses
The national curfew imposed by the U.K. Government on pubs and restaurants, which sees them close at 10pm, threatens serious job loses in the hospitality sector.
According to the industry, the curfew could potentially see sales down as much as
50%. This has caused many to fear for the future of pubs across the country.
Simon Emeny, CEO of the pub and brewery company Fullers, says the curfew is ‘Completely unjust’ and will ‘be devastating for the industry.
Pubs and restaurants have over 900,000 employees on the furlough scheme which is due to end on 31st October. They predominantly employ people who are under 30 whose jobs are at risk from what Mr Fuller described as "completely incoherent and inconsistent government strategies to deal with this virus".
