President Trump has Test Positive for Covid-19

President Donald Trump and First Lady, Melania Trump, have both tested positive for the Coronavirus strain, Covid-19. This follows confirmation yesterday that a senior aide who had been travelling with the President had contracted the virus.

The couple have both gone into quarantine together.

This news comes at a crucial time, as President Trump enters the final weeks of the 2020 Presidential Election campaign.

It is too early to tell whether the President will suffer symptoms and, if so, how serious and potentially debilitating they will be, however, Trump's positive test and the need for him to quarantine, will inevitably disrupt his election campaign.

One of the President's primary electoral campaign messages has been the positivity of the trading markets. However, the markets have reacted negatively on news of the President's positive test.

Under the 25th Amendment of the US constitution a medically incapacitated president has the option of temporarily transferring power to the vice president and can reclaim his authority whenever he deems himself fit for duty.
