London: In what is widely considered a positive move, Tony Abbott, former Australian Prime Minister, is to be appointed as the new Joint President of Britain's Board of Trade.
The straight talking former Australian PM's job will be to attract and encourage foreign trade with the UK and to encourage and facilitate trade deals for Britain around the world.
The Board of Trade is the British government department responsible for commerce and industry. It is currently a part of the Department for International Trade. Lizz Truss is the cabinet minister heading the DIT.
