BBC Considers Dropping Land of Hope & Glory from Proms




In what has been described as a move that likely to add pressure on the abolition of the Licence Fee, the BBC are considering dropping traditional British songs from the BBC Proms.


Songs such as 'Rule Britannia' and 'Land of Hope and Glory' are set to be dropped in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.


The possibility of axing the songs, which are considered classically British and have characterised the Proms for decades, has been condemned by anti-licence fee campaigners, commentators and politicians.
